10 Rock Bands That Only Have One Bad Album

9. Queen

Bad Album: Hot Space

There's probably a certain subset of rock fans who think that Queen can do absolutely no wrong in their field. It's not like that argument doesn't hold water either, with each member of the group being a technical virtuoso at their craft, from Freddie Mercury's undeniable stage presence to Brian May's creative guitar symphonies. On the other hand, who was asking them to become a dance band?

Granted, it's not like we couldn't really feel this one coming, as Queen had already started to get into dance-oriented material on Another One Bites the Dust a few years earlier. While the David Bowie duet Under Pressure got us excited for what Hot Space had to offer, time has been so very cruel to this record over the years. As opposed to the amazing bass lines of Another One Bites the Dust, songs like Staying Power just feel like a blatant retread into dance territory as they try to make lightning strike twice in the same spot.

That's not to say it's all bad though, with Life is Real being a loving tribute to John Lennon and Under Pressure turning into one of the greatest singalong tracks of all time. For all of the adulation that Queen have gotten from every stripe of music fan, you guys know you can do better than this.
