10 Rock Bands That Only Have One Bad Album
8. My Chemical Romance
Bad Album: I Brought You My Bullets
No one can really blame bands for not having the pieces together right from the start. Hell, most musicians finding their feet can only hope to throw something worthwhile together as they start to find their sound. Given what we heard on I Brought You My Bullets, many wouldn't be surprised if we never heard from My Chemical Romance ever again.
Compared to the rock juggernauts that would come afterwards on albums like the Black Parade, this is about as sophomoric as these rock icons had ever gotten. Though there is a distinct lack of polish in the guitars, that punk rock style of production does this record absolutely no favors, with Gerard Way's vocals being almost completely buried next to the wall of guitars. It also seems like the trademark push and pull from Ray Toro and Frank Iero isn't fully in place yet, as they basically try not to step on each other's toes for most of the album.
While this album does tell a story like all of the following MCR albums, you can't really focus on it outside of a few amazing tracks like Headfirst for Halos and Vampires Will Never Hurt You. Gerard Way has gone on record as not being fond of the 'emo' genre label, but this is the one release in their catalog that does seem to fit that description...and not in a good way.
