10 Rock Bands That Outshine Their Lead Singer

3. Linkin Park

As the nu metal revolution started to get underway after the late '90s, a lot of the frontmen were getting way too insipid for their own good. For as much as Jonathan Davis and Chino Moreno provided a good baseline for what a frontman of this caliber should be, as far as Staind and Puddle of Mudd were concerned, the lackluster frontman often ruined every single group. No...it was time to start looking at the collective.

As long as Linkin Park has gone on after their landmark debut Hybrid Theory, the focus was not always on Chester Bennington behind the mic. That's not to discount his role in the band either, with Bennington's screams really resonating with audiences around the world. On the other hand, the entire crux of Linkin Park was formed for the greater whole, which was brought out in spades once you listened to the whole record.

Along with being the co-frontman, Mike Shinoda's role as rapper, guitarist, and keyboardist has proved to be a welcome switchup from the usual band roles. At the same time, the production of Joe Hahn behind the turntables have served as a spectacle unto themselves, along with the pummeling riffs coming from Brad Delson. As opposed to the normal nu metal acts looking to cash in on MTV, these California misfits always focused on putting their passion project before any of the press junket.
