10 Rock Bands Who Broke World Records

5. Green Day - Most Songs Featured In Videogames By A Rock Artist

There's just something about rock music that makes it the perfect accompaniment to video games.

Maybe it's the energy so tightly associated with both? Or each one's slightly outsider-ish status? Either way, Guinness clearly decided that this link should be celebrated, as they gave out a record for "Most Songs Featured in Videogames by a Rock Band" in 2017. The recipient? Pop punk godfathers, Green Day.

Excluding downloadable songs, 57 Green Day tracks have appeared in 11 different titles, including American Idiot in Madden NFL 2005, Holiday in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, and Stop When The Red Lights Flash in 2012's Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

It also helps that they had an entire Rock Band game dedicated to their back catalogue, which featured 47 different songs in its own right.

Shoutout to Iron Maiden, who hold a similar record for "Most Songs Featured in Videogames by a Metal Artist" with 51 tracks turning up in 15 different games. Because this clearly needed to be a separate award.
