10 Rock Bands With Awesome Shows You Must See

8. Amon Amarth

Swedish Viking metal outfit Amon Amarth are a lively bunch to say the least. Since 1992 this band have combined the soothing sounds of death-metal with tales of Vikings, Valhalla and Norse gods, releasing 11 studio albums in the process.

Amon Amarth are still massively popular within the metal community, 27 years on from their inception. This is, in no small part, thanks to their phenomenal live shows. Looking toward the stage at one of these shows may be more reminiscent of a Viking period-piece set on Broadway than a heavy-metal concert.

With props including skulls, armour, old brickwork and occasionally an entire longboat, attendees at Amon Amarth shows are transported back to a more brutal and violent time in history- the perfect setting for drinking ale and moshing to death-metal. This is not a band to shy away from pyrotechnics either, with plenty of flames erupting from the stage as the concert commences.

By far the coolest part of the show, however, is that Amon Amarth bring extras on stage with them to have sword fights in full armour throughout. So, essentially you have longboats, horns of ale, fire and live battles. Does it get any more metal?
