10 Rock Bands With Awesome Shows You Must See

4. Ghost

Responsible for the latest bout of Satanic Panic across the Bible-Belt of America, Swedish rock act Ghost are used to being in the centre of one controversy or another. Whether it’s because they’re turning America’s youth into Satan-worshipping demon-children, being praised as the greatest thing to happen to metal in a generation, or being considered the most overrated nonsense of the same generation, people often find a reason to be vocal about this band.

Love them or hate them, it’s impossible to deny that Ghost put an incredible amount of effort and production into their live shows. With the whole stage usually done up as a gothic cathedral of some sort, they love to bring the spooks to their concerts.

The stage itself is one thing, but the real emphasis of a Ghost performance is found in the costumes and characters they portray. Dressed in a satanic take on religious garments, the “Nameless Ghouls” in the band are led by their singer, Cardinal Copia. This is the fifth iteration of the singer’s character, with him previously playing Papa Emeritus (0 through III.) Each of these characters was fired or killed off for hilarious, differing reasons.

It’s basically a Halloween pantomime with great music; what more can we say?
