10 Rock Bands With Five Or More Number 1 Albums
8. Pearl Jam - 5
In 1991, grunge outfit Pearl Jam unleashed their debut album Ten onto the world; a masterful collection of angsty classics like Alive, Jeremy, and Even Flow.
And guess what? It only reached number two in the US! Sensing a theme here...
Luckily for Eddie Vedder and co., their next three albums would all be chart-toppers. Vs., Vitalogy, and No Code were all big hits, but while they would continue to trouble the top five, they wouldn't get a taste of the top spot again until 2009.
13 years after their last number one, Pearl Jam returned to the peak with Backspacer, an album celebrating the positive feelings around the election of Barack Obama. Then, in 2013, the band outdid themselves once again with the modern classic, Lightning Bolt, and were duly rewarded with their fifth and (so far) final number one.
As so many of their '90s classmates have fallen out of fashion, Pearl Jam continue to innovate and change with the times, which is how they've been able to stay so relevant for so long.
There's also the small matter of them being awesome, but that goes without saying.
