10 Rock Bands With Five Or More Number 1 Albums

3. U2 - 8

The Dave Matthews Band are the highest-placed American group on this list, as it turns out that the US cannot get enough of musical imports.

Representing the Republic of Ireland are a group that must be responsible for about 40% of its overall GDP; the monumental U2.

From Dublin schoolboys to worldwide sensations to musical memes, U2 have done all there is to do in the business, including winning more Grammys than any other band in history. They're also no slouches when it comes to chart successes either, with eight of their releases reaching the peak of the Billboard mountain.

As you might have guessed, the band's first US number one album was The Joshua Tree, which may have been mandatory to own in 1987 based on the number of people that had a copy.

Future successes included The Joshua Tree's follow-up, Rattle and Hum, 2004's How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, and their most recent number one, Songs of Experience.

What wasn't a chart-topper was 2014's Songs of Innocence, aka that album that was automatically added to everyone's iTunes library whether they wanted it or not.

It still reached number nine though, which means some people bought it. Why though?
