10 Rock Bands With Five Or More Number 1 Albums

2. The Rolling Stones - 9

Owing to the nature of the music business back in the 1960s, The Rolling Stones have a separate discography for the United Kingdom and the United States up until 1967.

Some albums were only released in one country, whilst others were altered depending on which side of the Atlantic they fell on. However, despite all this mess, the important thing to remember is that the Stones' final total of US number one records is nine.

The first was Out of Our Heads, which actually did better in the States than it did back home. They wouldn't score another number one for six years, until the release of the controversial Sticky Fingers album. Their chart conquests would be spread out sporadically over the next decade or so, with their most recent US number one being 1981's Tattoo You.

In the UK, the band reached the summit as recently as 2016 with their covers album Blue & Lonesome, but such success has alluded the Stones overseas.

With a new album due out in 2023, maybe now's the time the legends break their slump and reach the elusive land of double figures.
