10 Rock Bands Without Any Original Members Left

7. Napalm Death

With a name like Napalm Death, it will not surprise anyone to learn that this group from the English West Midlands do not make bubblegum pop.

Instead, the band, who were formed in 1981, helped innovate the genre of grindcore, through their use of blast beats, wailing vocals, and fast-paced playing. Though they've never been a mainstream success, they have amassed a massive cult following over the years and continue to tour, even supporting Slayer for their final ever set of shows in 2018.

All this, despite the fact that the last original member of Napalm Death left in 1986.

Nic Bullen and Miles Ratledge, the pair who had founded the band as teenagers, were both gone before their first studio album was even released, and the last original band member to play on that record, drummer Mick Harris, said his goodbyes in 1991.

The longest-serving current member of Napalm Death is bassist Shane Embury, who's been around since 1987, but even he was still the third new bass player after the original one.

Basically, Napalm Death's membership history is just as wild and confusing as the band's musical output, but nobody seems to mind.
