10 Rock Bands You Forgot Were GREAT

7. Half Moon Run

Canadian folk rockers Half Moon Run released a standout debut album in 2012, so it's a shame they haven't been able to maintain the momentum over the years.

It was a record not dissimilar to the sounds Ben Howard was making at the time. Filled with intricate guitar parts, and ethereal intertwining vocal melodies, it was emblematic of the rock music that was popular in the early 2010s.

They were a midway point between Mumford & Sons and London Grammar, the folk influence was strong, but the heavy percussion and use of drum pads gave them a unique sound.

Swirling around in a world of The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men and the aforementioned Mumford & Sons might have been their undoing, though. Folk influenced indie rock had its moment, but that moment (for the most part) has been and gone - even Mumford traded in their acoustic guitars for electric ones back in 2015...

Having said that, going back and listening to Half Moon Run's first album reminds you just why they had that initial success...
