10 Rock Bands You Forgot Were GREAT

2. Junip

The Swedish folk-rock band, headed by Argentina born José González have been around for long time, but sadly for music lovers their list of albums is disappointingly short.

González formed the band with friends in the late '90s but after the success of his solo career they put everything on hold. In 2010 they released Fields, followed by Junip in 2013, but besides a few EPs, that was all there was to feast you ears on. Most likely you'll know some of their tracks from various films and video game soundtracks, but if thats all you're aware of go give the albums the time they deserve.

Perhaps the bands short discography is a blessing. In a time of short attention spans, it gives people an easy way in without an intimidatingly large back catalogue to try to navigate.

Just start with the EP Black Refuge, it sets the tone perfectly, and contains one of the best Bruce Springsteen covers you're likely to come across. There's a quality in González's voice that lends itself perfectly to the lyrics of The Ghost of Tom Joad, and when he has a full band behind him, it's even better.

Before engrossing myself in the written word, I spent several years in the TV and film industry. During this time I became proficient at picking things up, moving things and putting things down again.
