10 Rock Guitarists Who Were In Two Amazing Bands
7. Zakk Wylde - Ozzy Osbourne/Black Label Society
Ozzy Osbourne's lead guitarist spot has been a bit of a revolving door ever since the tragic loss of Randy Rhoads. Given Randy's playing style fit like a glove, each respective player who came after him had to be able to live up to his potential while also leaving their own mark on the Prince of Darkness's songs. After Jake E. Lee went off on his own for a while, Ozzy finally found a fixture in his band in...Jeff Wielandt.
Or at least, that's what he was known as then. Once fully settled into the world of heavy rock, this humble kid from the East Coast metamorphosed into Zakk Wylde, with one of the most muscly deliveries in the business. Across Ozzy's '90s work, you can tell there's an extra element at play, with Wylde showing a respect for his past heroes and a healthy amount of bravado.
On the other hand, that bravado became even more than Ozzy could bear. After splintering off from his hard rock adoptive father, Wylde turned himself into a frontman on his own with the Southern Rock act Pride and Glory, which quickly gave way to Black Label Society just a few years later. Though the Prince of Darkness certainly doesn't need to have help on stage, Zakk Wylde is one of the few post-Randy guitarists who can truly be called a freak of nature.
