10 Rock Guitarists Who Were In Two Amazing Bands
6. Joe Walsh - James Gang/Solo/Eagles
Throughout most of rock history, it's shocking to see Joe Walsh pop up as many times as he has. While he certainly has the chops to earn himself a spot in rock's hallowed halls, the guitars that he has possessed have also landed in the hands of everyone from Jimmy Page to Pete Townshend over the years. As opposed to the generosity he has for his rock brethren, the real gift he has given the rock community is the sheer number of bands he has had a hand in.
First emerging on the scene with James Gang, Walsh originally had a much more rhythmic feel to his playing, as exemplified in songs like Funk #49. Though his singing voice can be a bit of an acquired taste in his solo years, the real magic of songs like Life's Been Good and Rocky Mountain Way have come from the sheer power with which he strikes the guitar.
Then again, Walsh's most endearing contribution to rock history is his work in Eagles, from the glorious riff that kicks off Life in the Fast Lane to what may be the greatest guitar duel of all time on the outro solo to Hotel California. Despite his reputation of being one of the more vocal party animals of his time, Walsh's delicate touch on a six-string never left him across any one of his projects.
