10 Rock & Metal Bands That Still Have All Their Original Members
6. The Strokes
By the time rock music reached the '00s, things were starting to get a lot more boring than you probably remember.
Sure, there might have been bands like Korn and Blink-182 that were lighting up the charts, but where was the down and dirty rock that actually made you feel excited while listening to it? Well, it turns out that it never went away...it was just hidden in the seedy underbelly of New York.
Emerging out of the indie scene around the turn of the century, The Strokes commanded the rock scene for the next few years, bringing with them a raw aesthetic and a return to roots sound that felt more rooted in the garage rock trademarks made famous back in the '70s. Though the band normally takes long stretches of time in between albums, it always comes back to the main 5 guys at the end of the day.
While Julian Casablancas and Albert Hammond Jr. each have their own solo careers to worry about as well, it never becomes a hinderance to the band's sound, which still manages to sound fresh as they reinvent themselves on albums like the New Abnormal.
At a time when bands are trying to keep themselves in the spotlight 24/7, listening to the Strokes always feels like you're visiting an old friend.
