10 Rock Songs NOT Sung By The Lead Singer

5. My Way - The Sex Pistols

Ever since their inception in the '70s, the Sex Pistols were always built on chaos. Though the band were only able to make one fully formed album, their influence helped kickstart the entire punk rock movement going forward. Even with all the classic songs on the record, the one-off cover of "My Way" may be the most interesting song the band have ever released.

Instead of the snide cynicism of Johnny Rotten, this cover of the old standard by Frank Sinatra sees the band's bassist Sid Vicious stepping up the mic. It's already a bit ludicrous to see the Sex Pistols covering an old standard, but even more unthinkable when you have the band's resident punk caricature up front.

The beauty of the song doesn't come from the fact that Vicious can sing but from the fact that...well...he really can't.

Throughout most of the track, Vicious shouts his way through the song without any regard as to whether he's on pitch or not. The notes might not all be in the right place, but this is actually more interesting to listen to, as we can virtually hear the old guard of music being buried by the new regime of punk rock.

People have often said that Sid Vicious was the one member of the Sex Pistols with no talent, but taking the piss out of Sinatra is probably one of the most artistic things that he ever accomplished.
