10 Rock Songs That Have Obvious Mistakes In Them

1. Master of Puppets - Metallica

When Metallica first reached Master of Puppets, it felt like they were on the verge of something bigger than the thrash scene that they grew up in. Outside of the great headbanging riffs, the songs were a lot more layered this time around, with the title track being their magnum opus for what could be done with the more epic side of thrash. This is largely considered the ultimate Metallica song for most die hard fans, even if it does have a few messy notes from Kirk Hammett in the mix.

While the first half of the song is fairly straightforward with the punishing riffs and the slowpaced melodic section from James Hetfield, the real point of insanity comes in Kirk Hammett's solo, as he tears through some of the best licks in his arsenal. He may have been just a little bit overeager when they were tracking the song though, as he later said that he actually pulled the string off the fretboard when he was going through one of his phrases.

Listening back, you can definitely see what he's talking about, as one of the normal runs leads to a flurry of notes, which sounds like Kirk finishing the phrase while trying to keep himself on track. Don't expect those kind of theatrics live though, as Kirk said that he was never quite able to replicate that kind of screwup ever again these days. It may be getting a bit of a second wind this time around thanks to Stranger Things, but there's a good chance that not even Eddie Munson could be able to pull off something like that.
