10 Rock Songs That Killed Bands' Career

1. With Arms Wide Open - Creed

Sometimes it takes a little while for a song to really be considered a career killer. After all, hindsight is always 20/20, and you can't really gauge something being bad until it's actually had time to sit with you. So when you have one of your more regrettable failures become one of your biggest hits, you've pretty much set yourself up for being made fun of until the end of time.

Then again, With Arms Wide Open by Creed isn't really that bad in the traditional sense. Compared to the other post grunge bands, Scott Stapp at least is selling this kind of thing well, talking about his religious beliefs and how he will lead his son through all of the hardships of life. When you look at it now though, this is one of the most unintentionally hilarious songs ever made, with Scott pouring on the melodrama incredibly thick and sounding like a youth pastor trying to inject some attitude into his traditional psalms.

You don't have to take my word for it though. Just look at all the memes that this one song has wrought, with Stapp becoming one of the walking punch lines of how butt rock sounded in its infant stages. If the rest of Creed knew that this was going to become really corny at the time, Alter Bridge couldn't have happened fast enough.
