10 Rock Songs That Were A Nightmare To Make
6. This Is How I Disappear - My Chemical Romance
My Chemical Romance never really struck you as a band that was into anything too heavy. Aside from their trademark goth makeup and often dark lyrical themes laced throughout the tracks, every single interview with any respective member showed them as some of the most easy going people to ever become rock stars. When it came time to actually throw down though, This Is How I Disappear was the most labor intensive of their entire career.
During the recording sessions for the Black Parade, drummer Bob Bryar was still trying to break into the group, showing his chops on some of the more operatic sides of the record. Going into recording this track though, Bryar found himself screwing up the intro every time he laid it down, never quite nailing the perfect take of the song whenever tape rolled.
Out of pure frustration, Bryar eventually got the energy to create the now iconic intro by storming out of the studio and turning donuts in the parking lot before finally getting angry enough to nail it. It really shows too, with every single snare hit feeling like its taking one more step further into the darker side of reality. Though Bryar would eventually split ties with MCR during the making of Danger Days, this track alone shows that he had what it took to actually pull off the tracks.
