10 Rock Songs That Were Written As A Joke
7. Big Ten Inch Record - Aerosmith
Going through most of Aerosmith’s back catalog, Steven Tyler isn’t exactly shy about his sexual escapades. If you even take a handful of their best songs, there’s a chance that you’re going to find some euphemisms to the more carnal side of life somewhere in the mix. And on their first shot at the big time, the song that was obviously leading to sex actually has nothing to do with it at all.
As this song starts off, Steven starts things off talking about hanging out with his girl every now and again and how she is always satisfied playing with his big ten inch…blues record. Yes, the only way that Aerosmith can be funny is when they are overtly not talking about sex, only talking about how much this old blues record gets his girl going.
They really went all out on the novelty factor of the song as well, bringing in horns in the background to make it sound like some sort of sideshow that you’re watching as you work your way through some sort of demented carnival. As much as this sounds like a joke, there’s never a moment where it loses the identity of what Aerosmith stands for. It’s raunchy and a little bit sleazy when it needs to be, but you’re still always going to have a good time while you’re listening to it.
