10 Rock Songs With Really Disturbing Endings
7. Sleep - My Chemical Romance
None of the emo kids back in the day were going to be listening to the Black Parade in search of some uplifting story. The whole album was meant to be about one man slowly withering away due to his tragic cancer diagnosis and living the rest of his life in a hospital. After a while, you really start to empathize with this guy, until you realize all of the stuff that he's done in the past on Sleep.
Opening up with the sound of him having night terrors, this is almost a completely different character than who we saw at the beginning of the album, as he talks about the people that he's had to kill during his time as a soldier. As the song plays on though, he doesn't really have a shred of remorse for what he's done, almost getting some sort of high off of all the lives he's taken in the past.
At this point, he almost seems glad that he's going to hell, as he goes in and out of consciousness and leaving his family with the memory of him turning into a demon in the afterlife. By the time the song ends, you can hear him screaming WAKE UP to himself, only to be drowned out by the sounds of chaos all around him. Everyone might have a chance to be saved, but his time has been spent a long time ago.
