10 Rock Stars That Hated Being Rock Stars

1. Kurt Cobain - Nirvana

One of the biggest misconceptions in rock and roll is how much things are going to change once you get famous. For as much money as you might have rolling in over your songs and how many tours you do, that doesn't mean that every single piece of your life falls into place. And when Kurt Cobain got crowned as the king of grunge, he looked up to find all of his problems still there.

After originally being from a divorced family, Kurt kept a lot of the sadness inside him, only really letting it out when it came time to throw himself into a Nirvana song. As the songs from Nevermind became modern classics though, Kurt started to loathe what he had turned into, being just another pin up rock star that jocks could sing along with when they went out on a Saturday night.

As the years went on, Kurt seemed to get more and more out of hand, making In Utero as raw as it is in an attempt to drive the fairweather fans away. Nothing could stop the band's star power though, and the pressure became too much for Kurt to take, eventually taking his own life in April 1994. While the grunge scene might be looked at as a scene that's all about people whining and complaining, there is some genuine darkness in there that we need to acknowledge as well.
