10 Rock Stars That Hated Being Rock Stars

9. Gregg Alexander - New Radicals

Looking at where Gregg Alexander started and where he ended up seems like it shouldn't be happening to the same person. When he first got the ball rolling, he had originally thought of himself as a rock star type, banking on his sex appeal being in the vein of Jim Morrison. Once he got into his hipster phase with the New Radicals though, he would probably think it was funny that he even thought of himself as a rock star.

Because it's not like The New Radicals were exactly welcome to mainstream attention. Whenever you looked at pictures from Gregg around this time, he always made it a point to keep his eyes covered underneath his hat, almost like he was trying to hide himself away from the cameras that were on him all the time. That didn't stop songs like You Get What You Give climbing the charts though, and Gregg decided to choose his own fate and ended the project after just one album.

That's not to say that he's gone away either, having gone into the production side of things and becoming an accomplished songwriter, with songs that have been hits for Santana and Hanson later down the line. For a guy that has a rock star's level of songwriting chops, Gregg seems a lot more content with just writing the songs and letting the real stars do a lot of the heavy lifting for him.
