10 Rock Stars That Hated Being Rock Stars

7. George Harrison - The Beatles

During the mid '60s, you couldn't ignore the impact that the Beatles had on popular music if you tried. As Beatlemania swept the U.K. and U.S. at the same time, the faces of John, Paul, George, and Ringo were imprinted on your brain from the minute that they played the Ed Sullivan Show. That alone would make you feel a little bit insecure, let alone the member of the band who had been known as The Quiet One.

From day one, George Harrison always strived to be good a his craft rather than famous, with most of his idols being sidemen of rockstars like Carl Perkins. As the Fabs' star got bigger and bigger though, George used his fame as a way to expand his mind, venturing to India and learning more about Eastern culture. Though he was still know for his impressive guitar skills, George was never one to play up his stardom, often just keeping to himself and infamously threw a drink on invasive cameramen once when he was out for drinks downtown with friends.

As the years went by, his outlook on the press didn't really change either, as George just put out the music that he wanted and never went along with the more glamorous side of life. While rock and roll can be fun, you also have to be a puppet for the big wigs sometimes, and that wasn't a game that George was willing to play.
