10 Rock Stars Who Didn't Like Their Most Famous Songs
1. John Lennon - Let It Be
Ever since the Beatles' breakup, John Lennon was always the one who seemed the most jaded about the Fab Four's historic 60's run. Though he would look upon many of the group's compositions with pride, even some of the band's most legendary tunes were not safe from Lennon's wrath.
"Let It Be" could easily be thought of as one of the band's masterpieces, with fantastic lyrics and Paul McCartney giving a remarkable performance all around. On the other hand, Lennon never saw the real potential in the tune from the first sessions. When interviewed in the 70's, Lennon felt that the song was more suited to the music McCartney would later go on to make with Wings rather than being molded into a Beatles track.
The contentious feelings about the tune even came out during the album production, with Lennon off-handedly remarking whether the rest of them were supposed to giggle during the guitar solo section. Since the band were fracturing at the time, Lennon also put in little effort to the track, only adding background vocals and a little guitar here and there. Regardless of the petty squabbling between the members, there is no denying the impact "Let It Be" has had on generations of music fans.
