10 Rock Stars Who Didn't Like Their Most Famous Songs
8. Billy Joel - We Didn't Start The Fire
Ever since it was released, there has been a split opinion among music fans as whether or not "We Didn't the Fire" is even a good song at all. While many see it as a great run through America's past, others tend to look on it as 80's cheese and a laundry list of different events that amount to nothing.
Though Billy Joel himself had big plans for this portrait of history, the novelty factor of the song has soured on the Piano Man over time. Even with the boost of being quoted in sitcoms like "Parks and Recreation" and "The Office," Joel has treated the song as an afterthought and has rarely played it in concert over the last few years.
One instance of pure hilarity came when Joel was performing the song and lost his place when it came time to spit the rapid fire lyrics. Instead of dealing with the train wreck, Joel quickly made a few jabs at the song before going into a completely different tune. There's almost a new level of hatred for a song when you can't even muster the energy to finish it after you screw up. The song may have an interesting shelf life as of late, but Joel's attitude gives the impression that some things are best left in the past.
