10 Rock Stars Who Didn't Like Their Most Famous Songs
7. Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right To Party
When hip hop was reaching its cultural zenith in the late 80's, the Beastie Boys came onto the scene giving the world hip hop with a more rock-infused approach. Across the group's landmark album Licensed to Ill, the band sample many rock classics and even feature wild guitar solos across tunes like "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" and the ultimate party anthem "Fight For Your Right To Party."
Though the group gained massive amounts of fans because of their ode to adolescent partying, the members are still frustrated about the message of the song. Given the over-the-top performance from each member, the song was meant to be a comedic take on the macho urban high school kid who is obnoxious just for the hell of it. The only issue came when the band went on tour, with many of their fans thinking that the song was meant to be taken seriously as a legitimate party anthem.
While the band certainly don't hold anything against their fans for their enjoyment of the track, they also make it a point to not make their trademark song into a caricature of who they are. The Beasties may still enjoy their success, but their relationship with their first hit is distant to say the least.
