10 Rock Supergroups You Had No Idea Existed
5. Bloodline
Blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa pulled in some heavy artillery when putting together a band in the early '90s.
Van Halen, The Doors, The Allman Brothers, he managed to persuade their members... to let their sons join his band!
See, this group isn't so much a collection of famous musicians, but rather of their DNA.
That sounded way grosser than intended.
Smokin' Joe was joined by Eric Hagar (son of the aforementioned Sammy), Waylon Krieger (who's dad Robbie was in The Doors), and Berry Oakley Jr. (heritage Allman Brother) to form the aptly named Bloodline. Oh, and Miles Davis' son Eric was also there. Playing the drums of all things.
Things got off to a rocky start for this walking advertisement for nepotism, as Hagar quit the band early due to creative differences. Oakley took over singing duties and the group put out their first album in 1994. Sadly, this would also be their last.
Still, what they recorded was good and the idea of a group full of legendary musicians' kids could still work out.
Just spare a thought for keyboardist Lou Segreti, who had to play in this line-up with no famous parents at all.
