10 Rockstars That Hate You For Liking Their Music

When you're a starry eyed kid playing in your bedroom, there's nothing that you want more than to play to thousands of fans, and Rivers Cuomo was no exception. Long before he even invented the geek chic look with Weezer, Cuomo already had aspirations to be the big bad rock star, going as far as to grow his hair long to fit in with the hair metal bands of his youth. However, there's a big difference in dreaming big and then actually having those dreams come true.

Once Weezer's self titled Blue Album exploded onto the charts, Cuomo was not really happy with the kind of behavior that was happening all around him. Going from one show to the next, Cuomo started to get more and more desensitized to the rock star dream he had, eventually culminating in him moving to Harvard University to get away from the media circus.

By the time he came to with the record Pinkerton, the songs that unfolded read like a man who had his dreams come true and has been swallowed whole as a result of it. Although the record would have a glowing shelf life, the disdain towards pop punk's resident nerds led to Cuomo folding the band and not resurfacing until the '00s with the Green Album. As much as the rock and roll dream might sound like fun at first, sometimes it might have been better if dreams just stayed dreams.
