10 Rockstars That Hate You For Liking Their Music
3. Bob Dylan
When embracing the rock star lifestyle, there's always a breaking in period when the artist gets used to their new celebrity. While it can be fun to have people recognize you for the work you do, it sometimes gets a little hectic trying to balance what you want compared to what your fans want. So when you get a title like the Voice of a Generation, be prepared to have your every move picked apart.
Operating out of the Greenwich Village folk scene in the early days, Bob Dylan was quickly regarded as one of the greatest songwriters that rock has ever known, bringing with him world-worn stories like Blowin in the Wind and the Times They Are a Changin. That's just one facet of what Dylan was all about though, which culminated in the entire music scene feeling betrayed when he went electric at the turn of the '60s.
As far as the press was concerned though, Dylan was the perfect example of the stoic songwriter, unwilling to give a straight answer to the media and always downplaying his role as a songwriter. To this day, Dylan is still defying the odds of what a musical icon is supposed to do, making everything from long beat poetry passages to even making some religious records when the '80s rolled around. Even though any song under the Bob Dylan name has the word 'classic' prestamped on it, Dylan is still living life as the wayward traveler trying to write one more good song.
