10 Scottish Bands You Need To Listen To

4. Biffy Clyro

Winner of numerous awards (including winning Best British Band twice) and achieving four top five and one number one album, Killmanock band Biffy Clyro are arguably one of the biggest bands to come out of Scotland in recent years. However, they would go on a long journey to get there.

Originally forming back in 1995 under the name Skrewfish when the then 15-year-old frontman Simon Neil joined forces with guitarist Boyan Chowdury (who'd go on to form The Zutons after moving to Liverpool two years later) and recruited twins Ben and James Johnston. After moving to Glasgow to study, the trio released their first single 'Iname' in 1999 before before finding themselves on the unsigned stage at T In The Park one year later. They released their first album Blackened Sky in 2002 where they only got bigger.

While The Biff, as they're known to fans, have moved towards a more electronic sound in recent years from the more grunge-y sounds of 'Justboy' and 'All The Way Down', it's their stadium rock anthems 'Many Of Horror', 'Bubbles', and 'Mountains' that have kept this band a firm favourite of music fans.

And with another album on the way, Biffy Clyro aren't done yet.
