10 Scottish Bands You Need To Listen To

3. Frightened Rabbit

Beginning life as a solo project by front man Scott Hutchison in 2003, Frightened Rabbit - a name taken from a childhood nickname of Hutchison's - grew its number when Scot's brother Grant joined in 2004 and guitarist Billy Kennedy entered the mix in 2006. Other members Andy Monaghan and Simon LIddell would be recruited within the subsequent years.

Before their first album Sing The Greys released to generally positive reviews in 2006 - with a remastered version launching the following year - the band would promote their music by sending biscuits to anyone who picked up one of their free demos.

Since then, Frightened Rabbit have released four more studio albums, each of which exemplifying the group's upbeat, cheerful, and blistering rock sound alongside embark on US tours, which included playing the prestigious SXSW festival in 2007.

Tragically, however, the band dissolved after the dScott Hutchison took his own life in 2018. Although the band would unite to perform a charity concert in August of that year, the band has stated that the band "no longer exists" without him.

Nevertheless, Scott's music still lives on in 'Head Rolls Off', 'The Woodpile', and 'Holy' where he'll continue to touch new listeners.
