10 Song Covers In Different Genres

3. Total Eclipse Of The Heart - The Dan Band

The Dan Band are not a group to listen to if you're looking for subtlety, clean-humour or serious efforts at covering music that you love. However, if you're willing to leave your sensibilities at the door and have an ear for cover versions that you would not see coming, you may be able to find something to enjoy.

You might have seen their appearances in The Hangover or Old School where they perform as a wedding band. A truly touching rendition of Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is de-railed somewhat when the F bombs begin to drop and the dancing crowd react with shock.

This is the entire gimmick of the Dan Finnerty fronted project however - taking sensitive ballads and dropping in expletives in a way that bizarrely seems to work. Not scared to venture into other genres either, hearing the 50 cent track "Candy Shop" being crooned by a gentleman in a garish suit is something to behold, if nothing else.

Sharing a few similarities with Richard Cheese and Lounge Against The Machine, this is definitely a sort of music that you will either find completely pointless or binge-listen to see just how far they are willing to go.
