2. Pickin' On - A Bluegrass Tribute

Another entry where rather than looking at a single track, we are in fact looking at a collection of albums. The "Pickin' On' series consists of a number of mainstream artists' works being performed in the Bluegrass style, predominantly by studio musicians.

There is little to fault musically - it is clear that the adaptations have been carefully mapped out and performed with a high degree of skill - and the only question is whether you would enjoy hearing an artist you already like in this style.

While it is impossible to say for sure, it's probable that even the most die-hard fan will enjoy hearing the high points of their artist's efforts with this entirely unique sound.

Admittedly, the sheer scale of the output here makes it hard to pin down specific recommendations but some general highlights would be Pickin' On Clapton, where "Tears in Heaven" is a stand-out effort as well as Pickin' On Hendrix where Foxy Lady is worth a listen.

For fans of rock, Led Zeppelin have had two separate albums dedicated to them, as have Aerosmith. The Rolling Stones lead the way with three to choose from but fans of any genre will find something to suit their tastes.
