10 Songs By The Answer You Need To Listen To

7. Sweet Emotion

Certain songs most bands would shy away from trying to cover, Sweet Emotion would ordinarily fall into the category, but not for The Answer. It was once said that they were made to cover this song, and it sure seems that way. If you hadn't told me this was originally an Aerosmith song I could easily have believed that it was an Answer original.

Not much has been changed from the original version, but what they have changed they have, dare I say, improved upon it?

The tempo has been upped slightly, the talk box is gone in favour of Paul Mahon's favourite toy - the wah-wah pedal, - the verse's and chorus sound that bit heavier and crunchier, and Cormac Neeson's delivery of the vocals is deliberate, filled with purpose, and has a certain bite to it that nicely separates the psychedelic intro and post chorus from the balls to wall style of the rest of the song.

If you liked Sweet Emotion in the 70s you'll love it here. The Answer have taken it, changed it ever so slightly, and really put their own stamp on it. If Aerosmith were to re-record this song today, you'd put your money on it sounding a lot like the version from The Answer, and that is something to be proud of.
