10 Songs That Actually Got Better Live

5. The Blacker the Berry - Kendrick Lamar

In the world of hip hop, Kendrick Lamar really belongs on another level. For as many bangers as he has in his catalog, Lamar is one of the few artists who isn't to switch up his flow on a dime whenever the time calls for it. Though it's anyone's guess what Lamar will do from one show to another, his live performance of "The Blacker the Berry" will leave any man in stitches.

When released on the album, the entire song was a bit of an anger opus from Lamar, as he points fingers at hypocrites the world over, while also turning the finger on himself regarding his apathy towards his misgivings. There is a lot of venom in Lamar's delivery, but once he reached the stage at the Grammys, everything changed. Appearing during the 2016 Grammy performance, Lamar stepped up dressed in full prisoner regalia, before manually unlocking the chains before going into one of the most impassioned performances of his entire career.

It gets even better when Lamar starts to interpolate other songs into his delivery like "Alright," which works wonders when set against the backdrop of the anarchy going on onstage. Lamar was already known to be an amazing voice in the world of hip hop, but after this one performance, there was no one else who could touch him.
