10 Songs That Are Huge Outliers On Rock Albums

8. A Favor House Atlantic - In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3 (Coheed And Cambria)

Taking it upon themselves to keep the fire of prog rock burning, Coheed and Cambria have been churning out impossibly long songs with even longer names since 1995.

Just look at the title of this album - In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3? What the hell is that?

It wasn't even their third album!

In Keeping etc. etc. runs at over an hour long and most songs last at least five minutes, with some eight or nine-minuters thrown in for good measure. They mostly weave complex narratives with the use of drawn out backing tracks and heavy sounds.

And then there's this curiosity.

Coming in at a tight four minutes, A Favor House Atlantic is catchy, upbeat, almost... conventional. It's a great little bop, but it still fits the sci-fi story being told across the band's work.

One publication called it "a Trojan Horse of invading emo disguised as pop music."

The accesibility of bands like Coheed and Cambria can be quite low, so it's great when they put out music like this in an attempt to introduce more people to the genre.

Or maybe they just wanted to make money, who can say?
