10 Songs That Broke Up Bands

4. Humans Being - Van Halen

Van Halen may have not been able to work it out with David Lee Roth, but the band managed to pull off the impossible by getting a brand new singer. Fresh off of his solo career, the band drafting Sammy Hagar resulted in some of the greatest music of their career across albums like OU812 and 5150. The band could have gone on forever, but in just a few weeks, everything had gone belly up.

Though the band was supposed to take a well-earned break after touring for their album Balance, their record company ended up calling them back in to contribute a song for the soundtrack to Twister. Though everyone was on board at first, Sammy Hagar was already on sabbatical from Van Halen, and was none too happy after being called in yet again to work.

It also didn't help that Hagar was having a child with his wife down in Hawaii and the band insisted that he come up to the studios in California instead of recording his vocals from home. The band were eventually asked to write another song, but by that point, Hagar was out the door, leaving the band to finish the tune off as an instrumental. Van Halen may have some tremendous musicians at their disposal, but sometimes some great songs come at the expense of some friendships.
