10 Songs That Broke Up Bands

5. I Was Made For Lovin You - KISS

KISS had practically set themselves up as rock legends by the late '70s. Once the band exploded on their live album Alive!, their run from Destroyer up until the release of Love Gun marked a golden age in their catalog, with nearly every song having a handful of amazing riffs. The band could go anywhere from here, but no one was really asking them to go disco.

Given the intense popularity of the dance genre running throughout the States, Paul Stanley came up with "I Was Made For Lovin You" as an homage to the sounds of Studio 54. The song did end up being one of the group's biggest hits, but not everyone was onboard. The band had never really come back together after cutting individual solo albums, so the thought of making this drastic a change didn't sit well with the hard rock mindset of Peter Criss and Ace Frehley.

KISS made it through Dynasty, but by the time the next album Unmasked came out, Criss was already out the door, with Frehley following him soon afterwards after being outvoted on most band decisions. "I Was Made For Lovin You" does take on a more hard rock sound when performed live, but this original version showed the biggest rock band in the world in shambles.
