10 Songs That Got Their Own Sequels
7. Fear Saga - Rush
It's almost expected that prog rock acts try to write interconnecting songs at least once in their life. Hell, Rush can claim to have multiple versions of this concept, going so far as to bring one section of a song to a halt at the end of one album and continue it on the next album. If we're talking lyrical threads though, the Fear Saga is one of the more interesting avenues they have ever gone down.
Although the release of these songs are not technically in order, they each play into the theme of fear and how that emotion affects our everyday lives. Starting with The Enemy Within, this confronts the fear within one's self before flipping it to The Weapon dealing with the fear of nuclear attack. From there, we see Witch Hunt detailingthe idea of how fear controls people to Freeze with the choices you have to make as a result of your fear.
While a lot of the subjects of these songs can get fairly hectic, the crux behind them doesn't necessarily answer the question as to what fear actually is. These are more like thinkpieces, wanting to ask as many questions as they can without letting you have clear answers. As much as this can be a prog headache for anyone not well versed in this genre, fear is still a necessary evil that might even manage to make us stronger as humans.
