10 Songs That Inspired Dance Crazes

1. Michael Jackson - Thriller

There would be no way to discuss songs that have inspired popular dances without mentioning Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson popularized the moonwalk and his unique dance style is still reflected in many popular dance styles today. Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" was used to produce one of the most influential music videos of all time featuring zombies, a horror movie set and of course the iconic Thriller dance.

The dance came from a collaboration between Jackson and Michael Peters to craft those sweet chilling zombie dance moves that are still celebrated in dance today. Peters also collaborated with Jackson on the music videos for "Beat it". The iconic video for Thriller then boosted sales of the Thriller album leading it to be the best selling album of all time and establishing Michael Jackson as "The King of Pop".

Michael’s dance talent and execution in the thriller video is excellent, inspiring so many others to learn his stylized moves. "Thriller" expanded the boundaries for music, dance and music videos creating a cultural phenomenon that resonated with fans and artists all over the world.
