10 Songs That Prove Wings Are A Better Band Than You Think

5. Magneto And Titanium Man

After the success of Band on The Run, follow up Venus and Mars saw Paul McCartney at his most confident. That confidence is evident in the music but also in some his more eccentric lyrical choices.

In the 1970s many still thought comic books were just for kids.(This was before Marvel took over the world, The Lego Movie stole our hearts, we refused to grow out of Pokemon and NOTHING was just for kids ever again.)

McCartney took names of actual characters from the Marvel Universe, ignored their backstories and wrote his own comic book adventure song around them.

Magneto and Titanium Man almost seemed designed to alienate people who didn’t like comics and annoy those who did.

None of that matters though because the song is one of the most upbeat and catchy in the entire Wings catalogue. The song’s silliness as forgivable as its melody is irresistible.
