https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghb6eDopW8I Arguably the most misleading song of all time. The tune was so popular and so catchy, that nobody even bothered to listen to the lyrics and instead just lay back and sang along. Instead, this song tells the wonderfully tragic story of an old couple who have been separated through the death of the man. The conversation between them is in the surviving woman's head, who it becomes clearer, is also suffering from the ravages of age.
"Some days I don't know if I am alright, Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear..."
The man then spends the song comforting her and telling her that they will be together soon and not to worry. This track deserves its popularity and its wonderfully poetic lyrics, coupled with its upbeat tempo and nature should be applauded... even if the song is actually about death and loss.
"You're gone, gone, gone away, I watched you disappear, All that's left is the ghost of you, Now we're torn, torn, torn apart, there's nothing we can do, Just let me go, we'll meet again soon. Now wait, wait, wait for me, please hang around, I'll see you when I fall asleep..."
