10 Songs That Would've Fit Perfectly On The Next Beatles Album (Had They Not Split)

1. Instant Karma - John Lennon

Throughout every one of his solo tracks, John Lennon always seemed to touch on a subject matter that went beyond just a cliched pop single. Even songs that were more subtle like "Imagine" had more of a political edge than people had originally thought, given Lennon's call for no countries or even religions.

When it was first released, "Instant Karma" was a huge success, even giving the Beatles' "Let It Be" some competition on the pop charts. The song's energy works wonders, and could have worked even more if brought back to Abbey Road Studios with the Fabs. Though the unfiltered energy of the original track comes from its rough production, the other band members' efforts could have led to a song that packed a massive punch.

Instead of having a swampy sound quality at the outset, McCartney's greater attention to detail could lead to the song taking on more of a singalong feel in the vein of other Beatles classics like "Hey Jude." Given that McCartney's track could end the album nicely, "Instant Karma" is a perfect way for Lennon to end his portion of the record on a positive note. Even if this album is only available in our minds, take comfort in knowing that, like this song, we'll all shine on.
