10 Songs That Would've Fit Perfectly On The Next Beatles Album (Had They Not Split)

7. Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney always felt like the true workhorse of the Beatles collective. Though Harrison and Lennon's tracks were equally strong compositions, the music felt more like an extension of themselves as opposed to McCartney's more straight-forward songwriting. However, when Paul wanted to write from the heart, we were left with something jaw-dropping.

"Maybe I'm Amazed" was the highlight of McCartney's first solo record, which has gone on to be a staple of his live set to this day. While the rest of Paul's debut was more of a demo recording than anything else, this song is the one track that feels more like a Beatles track that was left on the cutting room floor. Most of the record was done by Paul at his house, but this track was cut at Abbey Road, giving the sound of the track even more Fab vibes.

This would be an absolute showstopper for Paul on this Beatles record, with the band providing some great counterpoint to Paul's melody. Whereas Abbey Road had tracks like "Oh Darling!" featuring Paul's screaming, this track is the logical next step of combining the tender subject matter with the primal joy of the vocal delivery. The track may scream McCartney, but the song could have become a completely different beast if Paul still had his writing partner beside him.
