10 Songs That Would've Fit Perfectly On The Next Beatles Album (Had They Not Split)

6. Imagine - John Lennon

John Lennon was going through a lot when the Beatles broke up. Even with his constant drug consumption, he was also being blamed for the breakup based on his relationship and artistic ventures with wife Yoko Ono. Though the post-Fab days were very dark, "Imagine" was the light that showed everything would get better.

If the band had taken time off rather than dissolving, Lennon could have had time to work on his more avant garde projects as well as speaking his mind about the politics of the day. Whereas "Cold Turkey" showed the more tortured side of Lennon, "Imagine" shows the sensitive side that he had grown comfortable showing in his later years. Though the song is perfect with just Lennon, this could be a completely different story if given the right amount of Fab treatment.

There are many different facets to the Beatles' sound, but this track could have benefited from a more orchestral sound from the great George Martin. Though Lennon was never one for belaboring his work, Martin's potential score for this song could have resulted in a subdued but poignant string accompaniment. Regardless of how it was presented, "Imagine" would have been one of the biggest highlights that this new Beatles album could have created.
