10 Songs That Would've Fit Perfectly On The Next Beatles Album (Had They Not Split)

3. Mother - John Lennon

One of the biggest events that happened once John Lennon severed ties with his bandmates was his participation in primal therapy. After the hysteria of Beatlemania left him desensitized, Lennon spent most of 1970 going through an exorcism of the negative feelings buried deep in his consciousness.

There were many choices from Plastic Ono Band that could have worked on this new Fabs album like "Working Class Hero" or even "Isolation," but "Mother" seems like the logical progression from Lennon's earlier work. Starting off with the toll of a church bell, this track might be a good way to open the other side of the record, almost as if to wake us up to prepare us for this harrowing tale of heartache.

McCartney was known for his more throat-shredding moments on the band's later releases, but this showed how Lennon was more than capable of digging deep down inside himself to deliver the best screams that he could. The lovelorn condemnation of both Lennon's parents could also be used as a companion piece to the White Album's "Julia." Lennon's discussion of his family on the White Album track may have been more loving, but this song is where things get brought back to Earth with some of the most honest writing he would ever put to music.
