10 Songs The Artists HATED Recording

8. Creep - Radiohead

It's hard to think of it now, but when Radiohead first got the ball rolling, they weren't anything that special. For as much as their early material like the Bends and OK Computer gets praised today, their first step up with Pablo Honey has been mocked by critics and fans as being derivative of the grunge sound. The band's label thought they had a hit on their hands with "Creep," but there was only one problem: the band HATED it.

Originally thinking it was a Scott Walker song, the band's management demanded that the band release the song when they found out it was an original work. Though they may have acquiesced, the band put the bare minimum into making the song, with the only real standout sections being Thom Yorke's voice and Jonny Greenwood's guitar. However, even Greenwood's contributions were meant in jest.

After plowing through a song he despised, Greenwood decided to take the piss on the recording and added offbeat guitar stabs before the chorus. Rather than deliberately sabotage the recording, the experiment backfired when it became the most identifiable part of the song. Radiohead might have hated these initial beginnings, but it's a testament to their talent that even when they try to do wrong, it's classic.
