7. Locomotion - Kylie Minogue
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MNHEwBkMN0 The song that started a 26 year ongoing career of a girl from Australia, didn't even get Kylie Minogue her first number 1. Everyone of a certain age will remember watching Minogue as Charlene from Neighbours and she translated that success into a debut single. This song was actually released twice. First in 1987 when Kylie took on the Australian market and again in 1988 when a Stock Aitken Waterman produced version was dropped in the UK. It was then that Kylie's career really took off and she evolved into the pop princess that she is today. Huge hits followed the release of Locomotion, most notably being Can't Get You Out Of My Head and Spinning Around. Of all the accolades that Kylie has ever received, the amount number 2 singles she has had must be the most off-putting. In total she has had an incredible 11 number 2 singles in her career. We can only imagine how sickening that must have been for Kylie - so close, but not close enough. Of course she has had her fair share of number 1's as well, but is Tears On My Pillow really more deserving than Locomotion? Too bad Kylie, let's hope your latest effort lands atop of the charts!
