10 Songs You Didn't Know Were Sequels

For most artists, putting a song together is a very strenuous undertaking. Across a few minutes, you have to tell a coherent story or at least paint a picture in the listener's mind that will resonate with them after the music stops playing. On other occasions, the story doesn't end once the song stops.

As it turns out, there are actually multiple songs released over the years that have continued the stories of other legendary tracks. Whether it be the return of a central character or calling back to the theme from an earlier tune, these tracks have picked up exactly where the artist had left off all those years ago. It could be on the next record or a record 20 years down the line, but these artists never forget about a topic that resonates with them.

While some bands find it extremely difficult to conjure up lyrics for their songs, these are the instances where the lyrics actually stick with the artists for years to come. The sequels may not hit with the same punch as its parent song, but it's always nice to check on these artists and their characters to see where they eventually ended up.

10. Steven From Welcome To My Nightmare Reappears - Along Came A Spider

Even after decades of putting on a true hard rock spectacle, Alice Cooper's dark persona was still out in full force on Along Came a Spider. Across the conceptual piece, the album tells the story of a serial killer who kills his victims and amputates their limbs to put together a human spider.

While there is voiceover used at some points on the record and promotional material, most of the tracks are this nameless protagonist simply known as Spider recounting all of the killings in great detail. Once we reach the end of the album though, something starts to turn a corner.

Out of the blue, a disembodied voice starts talking to our arachnid-obsessed storyteller, explaining that there's no way any of these killings could have taken place since he's been locked in a mental institution. Though it is an ambiguous ending on the surface, learning that the killer's name is actually Steven opens a whole separate avenue for Cooper fans.

Steven was always known as the main character of the shock rocker's masterpiece Welcome to My Nightmare. After decades of being shut away from the world, it seems that Steven has been keeping quite well as he finds more terror to inflict on the innocent.
